Movies.

Being a mother to 5 children, I’m sure you can already guess that I don’t go to the movies very often. In fact, my husband and I only go to the theater a few times a year. (If that.) We do have a smaller theater in out town that gets movies a month or two after the big theater. It only costs $4, so if we have extra money and can find a sitter, we go there for date night.
So I have this, I don’t know if I would call it a gift or what, but I have the ability to see an actor/actress in something and tell you where else I have seen him/her. Sometimes I can do it just by hearing the voice on an animated show. I don’t know how I do it, but even my family and friends think its pretty cool. I’ve even had my parents call me from across the country to tell them who someone was. (Though nowadays, they just check IMDB.) I’m not as good at it as I used to be, because there are new movies and new actors that have come out. Since I rarely go to the movies, it makes it hard to know who they are. BUT I am still pretty darn good at this. 😉
Are you good at anything weird like this?

Routine.

Before I became a mom, I always thought I would be the best mom out there. I would cook breakfast for my kids, always have laundry clean and put away, I would do homework with them every night, etc.
Well, a lot can change after having children. I realized that I don’t like doing laundry, I am not a morning person and I suck at homework. Not to mention, I don’t know how to stay on a routine. That in itself can make life hard when you have children. We have some things that happen about the same time everyday, Like dinner and bedtime, but everything else is sort of it happens when it happens.
Here’s a little sample of how a day goes around here. I’ll use a weekday, because those have a bit more routine.

6:30am – Alarm goes off. Wake up kids.
6:45am – Give my daughter her pills. Do their hair.
7:00am – Walk kids out to the bus or my upstairs neighbor walks them.
7:15am – Sometimes I start laundry.
7:30am – Feed the younger kids breakfast. (The older ones eat at school.)
7:45am – I sit and play on my phone or computer while I drink coffee. Lots of times, trying to come up with blog posts and failing miserably.
9:00am – Sometimes I turn on a show for the kids. Other times they just play (destroy) in their room while I procrastinate doing thing around the house.
10:00am – It’s 10 now and here I am sitting in my chair, writing my blog, while the kids play.
12:00pm – I feed the kids lunch.
12:30pm to 2:30pm – This varies a lot. I may fold laundry or do dishes or go to the store or even stay sitting because, let’s face it, I’m kind of lazy some days.
2:45pm – Watch for the bus. 2 kids home.
2:50pm – Supervise kids doing their chores.
3:20pm – Fold laundry. (If I did it.)
3:40pm – Watch for bus. 1 kid home.
3:45pm – Tell them to do homework. My oldest does her chores at this time and then her homework.
4:30pm – Send them into the backyard to play or they play inside or read books.
5:00pm – I start dinner.
5:30pm – Dinnertime.
6:00pm – Showers or baths for kids.
6:50pm – Kids pick out their clothes for school the next day.
7:00pm – Kids go to bed.
7:30pm – Watch Netflix or read a book until I’m tired.

This is what a day looks like. Though it tends to change. There are some things that stay the same, Like meal times and when they get on/off the bus. So I guess we do have a little bit of routine. Do you have routine at your house? Is it hard to stay on track?

Pet Peeves.

Things that annoy or irritate you. I know everyone has them. Some have more than others. I have several. I’ll put pictures with some of mine. (Let’s see how much I can annoy myself with that.)

#1. Animals in clothing. Ugh. I have to say that this may be my biggest pet peeve. Every time I see a little animal wearing clothes I get so annoyed and irritated. Now I’ll share a picture of this horribleness.

(I have such a hard time looking at the above picture and not wanting to delete it.)

#2. The toilet paper roll going the wrong way. There is a specific way that the roll is to be put in its holder. If it is put in backward, it irritates me. I’ve even been known to turn the roll around at other people’s homes. Maybe that makes me crazy? Here’s a picture of what I mean.

See the difference? One is obviously the right choice. 😉

#3. People smoking in the car while their child(ren) is in it. This one is a biggie for me too. I don’t see this as much around here anymore, because Oregon has a law about it. There is a hefty fine for smoking while your kids are in the car. Though there are still those people who don’t give a poo and will do it anyway.

There are just so many things wrong with that, I am sure others will agree.

#4. When people try to act like they know how to parent my children better than me. Ok, so just because you are older than me, does not mean you know more than me. I’m not saying I’m a genius, but I’m not an idiot either. I don’t act like I know more than you just because I have more children. So don’t act like you know more than me or like my decisions and choices are wrong. (I don’t have a picture to go with this one.)

#5. A clean toilet. This one may seem a bit more OCD, than a pet peeve, but it annoys me when the toilet is dirty. I’ve become better about this as I have gotten older. When I was younger, I would clean my toilet everyday, because if it was dirty it would just bother me so much. I would even clean my parents toilet when I was at there house. Which I’m sure they miss me doing. 😉

#6. Leaving the stickers on new movies. This one may sound dumb and maybe it is, but that doesn’t make it any less annoying. What is even more annoying about it, is when you’re married to a man who leaves the stickers on just to annoy you. I’ve been known to sit and go through our movies and pull off the stickers. I never seem to get them all. (I don’t have a picture for this one either.)

#7. Reading over my shoulder. It doesn’t matter what I’m doing, don’t read over my shoulder. It is annoying as well as kind of rude.

I am sure I have more that will come to me after I post this, but for now I’m going to leave it at this. If you have any pet peeves that you want to share, feel free to comment with them. 🙂
